A pleasant surprise at Metro ATC
Metro Supermarket at the Alabang Town Center is not one I go to. I have shunned malls a lifetime ago because parking is a headache and I find them crowded.
I needed to run a quick errand to National Book Store ATC because it was the only one in the area that had what I needed. I opted to park at the Metro Supermarket basement parking because it was nearest the bookstore, at least, in my mind it is.
To avail of the free parking at Metro ATC, you need to buy at least P300 in the grocery or the department store so I headed for the grocery. I am certain I would need to cook and eat this week so I figured I can buy pork or chicken or whatever for the P300 receipt. I was pleasantly surprised when I scoured the supermarket.
They had several types of bread that were on buy-one-take-one. The French bread costs P65 which means a loaf is just P32.50. They also had cinnamon loaf and others that I no longer had the time to check out.
Apparently, Metro Supermarket has weekend specials. They had chicken leg quarters for P95 a kilo and chicken thigh for P94 a kilo. Good buys considering that a whole dressed chicken now average at P150 a kilo, according to the Department of Agriculture.
They also still have ham from their holiday inventory. Purefoods Ham was on 50 percent off and the CDO ham was on buy-one-take-one. If I were to buy the ham, I would get Purefoods because it’s 50 percent off and I would only need to get one. However, we still haven’t finished the ham we bought on sale a week back.
