Cebu seeks illegal fishing-free status in 4 years
The Cebu provincial government is targeting to make Cebu free of illegal fishing in the next four years.
In its website, the provincial government said it is banking on its newly launched campaign, the ‘Kalambuan sa Dagat’ which is headed by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force (CPAIFTF), to reach its target.
CPAIFTF chief Lyndon Ruiz, a retired military colonel, was tasked to plan strategies that would intensify the province’s anti-illegal fishing campaign.
Ruiz said the CPAIFTF will give trainings to those in Cebu’s fishing industry to raise consciousness about fishery laws.
