Ilocos Sur displays giant vegetables

Ilocos Sur recently displayed its 10-kilogram squash and 1.9-kilo cauliflower in its showcase of the biggest and heaviest crops.

The Ilocos Times reported that the “Agri-pinaka” competition, which recognizes the contribution of local farmers, was part of the province’s Kannawidan Ylocos Festival.

The contest involved producing the biggest, heaviest, plus sized and hybrid crops produced by Ilocos Sur farmers.
Viewers saw a 1.9-kilo cauliflower, a 3.9-kilo and 97-centimeter bottle gourd (upo), a 10-kilo 115-centimeter wide squash, and a 70-centimer pepper.

Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Singson said the provincial government will continue to prioritize agriculture to bring more development and introduce more technology to local farmers.
