India now a source of smuggled agri products
Aside from onerous “5-6” loans, President Duterte has another problem with India.
The Bureau of Customs said smugglers have added India to their list of sources of red onions other agricultural products.
The BOC recently seized P15 million worth of smuggled fresh red onions from India in 11 40-foot container vans shipped through Indian-registered vessel E.R. Felixstowe 032 to the Manila International Container Port (MICP).
Before the incident, smuggled onions were known to have come from China and other Asian countries.
The shipment have two consignees – one in Binondo, and another in Pampanga.
