My Fit Foods closes East Long Beach store, leaving customers out hundreds in pre-paid meals
A nationwide health food company closed abruptly last week, leaving customers who had invested money for pre-packaged meals at the company’s Long Beach store in the lurch.
My Fit Foods Co., a packaged healthy food maker based in Austin, announced Sunday that it would close all its stores.
Jan Gallup of Long Beach said she had invested about $300 in an account with the store, which allowed her discounts on meals. Last week she went to the store in the Marketplace shopping center near Second Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
“A sign in the door said they were closed for electrical problems,” she said.
The next day she read about the 11-year-old company’s closure, and began trying to reach the company with no luck. Gallup said she knows people who invested as much as $1,500 in meals with the store.
