Visayan Sea open to fishing
The three-month closed season in the Visayan Sea has been lifted last Feb. 16.
The closed season on commercial fishing was imposed to let the sardines, herring and mackerel grow.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) reportedly allowed fishing in the Visayan Sea to resume last Feb. 16 but commercial fishing vessels were told to stay away from the 15-kilometer municipal waters.
During the closed season, at least three vessels were caught and nine persons were charged with unauthorized fishing and fishing with no licenses.
