Where are your mangoes, Australia asks PH
Australian ambassador Amanda Gorely urged mango farmers to export fresh mangoes to Australia.
SunStar quoted Gorely as saying that no Philippine company has expressed interest to export mangoes to Australia since the amended version of the Australia-Philippines Specific Commodity Understanding (SCU) was signed last October 2016.
She said the agreement formalizes Australia’s recognition of the Philippines as pest-free for seed weevil and pulp weevil, except for Palawan.
“We encourage the mango producers/growers here, especially in Mindanao, to start exporting and be the pioneer company to do trial shipment to Australia,” Gorely told members of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) officers and member in her speech Monday noon at the Marco Polo Hotel-Davao.
