Alimango ‘mountain’ feeds revelers of Alimango Festival
The town of Lala in Lanao del Norte celebrated its 16th Alimango Festival last March 22 with a 1.2-ton “mountain” of mud crabs for everyone to partake of.
Sunstar reported that the alimango “free-for-all” is a sort of thanksgiving for Lala town for the bountiful harvests and development that it had in the past year.
Next year, the local government intends to revive its alimango rodeo, alimango eating contest, alimango marathon, and alimango recipe cooking competition.
Local officials also vowed to strengthen the enforcement of laws on fishery and disposal of chemicals and pesticides to prevent contamination of rivers.
