‘Ang Probinsyano’ on rice paddy art at PhilRice
The Philippine Rice Research Institute launched over the weekend its newest rice paddy art – actor Coco Martin and the late movie king Fernando Poe Jr., both Ang Probinsyano stars.
The rice paddy art project, which uses the Korean variety purple rice to emphasize its distinction from the regular green-leafed rice variety, aims to increase awareness of netizens and millennials on rice farming and agriculture.
PhilRice previously featured national hero Jose Rizal, the Aldub loveteam, President Duterte, and Vice President Leni Robredo during the 2015-2016 wet and dry cropping seasons.
Since then, the photos have gone viral online and attracted visitors to the farm in Maligaya, Science City of Munoz.
Aside from the rice paddy art, the five-hectare farm also showcases clean energy facilities, drone technology, advanced farm machines, and an experimental field that demonstrates hybrid, inbred, and traditional rice varieties.
