Robinsons Supermarket puts bacon on specials
Don’t you just love bacon? I like it with fried rice and sunny side up eggs. I also like it on bread with lettuce and tomatoes. And, that caesar’s salad wouldn’t be good without it.
This week, Robinsons Supermarket appears to have put bacon on specials.
The 500-gram pack of Mekeni’s bacon is now just P177 from P186.
Swift’s ‘delicious’ bacon 200-gram pack is now just P105 from P110.
Purefoods’ honeycured bacon 500-gram pack is now just P283 from P297.
My daughter likes her bacon crunchy all through out. I like mine a lot less crunchy. When cooking bacon, look at how thinly or thickly they sliced it. Not all bacon is equally sliced and it all depends on the brand.
If you get one that is a little more thick and you want it crunchy all throughout, heat it with a little bit of water in the pan to soften the fatty part when you render it. Well, even if you don’t want it crunchy, cooking it with a little bit of water does help render the fat from it. Just let it cook in its own fat.
I tried cooking it on wire racks in the oven before. It made it crunchy but I just couldn’t stand how much gas it uses so I now always cook it on pan on the stove.
