Albay town council to regulate poultry farms
The town council of Polangui in Albay is expected to enact in 90 days an ordinance that would regulate the operation of poultry farms to address health problems due to recurring swarms of houseflies.
The Bicol Standard, quoting Polangui vice mayor Herbert Borja, reported that a public consultation has been scheduled and will be participated in by poultry raisers and affected residents.
Borja said the passage of the ordinance is being fast tracked due to the complaints that have flooded the city council.
He said the required environmental permits need to be complied with by every poultry farm owner.
Polangui has many poultry farms due to its accessibility to transportation and the good climate for raising chickens.
