Four quick to prepare lent meal ideas
Running out of food ideas this Holy Week?
Lent season is here, and observing customary food practices means getting the chance to explore creative ideas at home.
Here are four quick and easy to prepare meals you can try out this Holy Week:
1. Seafood pasta
You can do this just by replacing the grind pork with sardines, tuna, scallops, shrimps or even mussels, to add some seafood flavor into it. Don’t forget to pour some Parmesan!
2. Tuna dynamite
Our local version of the Chinese spring rolls have gone through other versions. You can try out a tuna-based “dynamite” which is made of green bell pepper and tuna filling. Serve with mayo and catsup sauce and you’re good to go.
3. Oriental-style fish fillet
You don’t have to be a chef to serve restaurant-like menu items. You can try out an Oriental-style fish fillet for the family. The key ingredient is the catsup and sweet and sour flavoring. Don’t forget to fry the fish to perfection for that extra crisp!
4. Grilled seafood
Of course, a Filipino Lent spread wouldn’t be complete without the grilled stuff. There’s nothing a good grill couldn’t fix! Simply grill your favorite meal like squid, bangus, tilapia and fish and serve with the staple Pinoy tradition – the mixed spices sauce.
