Now online! DA makes color-coded fertilizer map available on internet
A color-coded map which will show how fertile the soil in a certain area is, and what and how much fertilizer should be applied is now available online at www.farmersguidemap.gov.ph.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the color-coded Fertilization Guide Map is the latest feature of the National Color-Coded Agriculture Guide Map (NACCAG) launched by President Rody Duterte last month in Malacañang.
Piñol said the map is based on a P36-million soil test and study funded by the agriculture department in 47 provinces.
He said the soils analyses are expected to be completed in two months and the data inputted online so that they are accessible to farmers.
So far, the three features of the color-coded national agriculture map are the Crop Suitability Map, National Water Availability Map, and the Fertilization Guide Map.
The Crop Suitability Map shows what crops are suitable in specific areas of the country.
The National Water Availability Map indicates the location of open sources of water like creeks, rivers and lakes and the depth of the water table in areas where there are no open sources.
