Red tide persists in 4 areas

Coastal waters in four areas in Masbate and in the Visayas are still positive for the red tide toxin.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said shellfish collected in the coastal waters of Daram Island in Western Samar, in Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol, and in Milagros town in Masbate still have paralytic shellfish poison.

BFAR said shellfish in the abovementioned areas should not be harvested, sold, bought and eaten because they are lethal to humans.
