Shang Mactan’s Italian chef totally loves Cebu and its “surprises”
Chef Andrea Burzio, the Italian chef for Acqua, Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort’s Italian restaurant, had expressed his love and enjoyment for his Cebu stint.
The 33-year-old chef who had worked for several Michelin-starred restos across the globe, said that he finds Cebu as a pleasant surprise.
“There is a positive environment. Every day I wake up feeling everything will be better (than the day before). In this environment, you can work with a positive attitude”, he told Sun Star Cebu.
He also emphasized that being a good chef encompasses both “mental and physical” facets.
“A chef manages the staff, the budget and everything else in the kitchen. It is a challenging job and I love challenges both physical and mental. Succeeding in the duty of a chef makes me feel satisfied in life. At the end of the day, I feel I have done something. Food is bonding. I love to be like the protagonist of anyone’s happiness as dealing with food is dealing with people’s happiness,” said Chef Andrea, who had assumed the role of Shang Mactan’s stand-alone chef for years.
