Strawberries no longer the monopoly of Baguio City

More Leyte farmers, particularly those in Burauen and Jaro towns, are growing strawberries as a high-value crop.

The Manila Bulletin, quoting Leyte Gov. Leopoldo Dominico Petilla, reported that growing strawberries was introduced in Leyte as part of the recovery program for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda in 2013.

The Leyte’s highland towns reportedly have the same climate as Baguio City.

Petilla is optimistic that Leyte’s towns along the mountain ranges can grow strawberries on a commercial scale.
