Su Kyi to view Pinoy weavers, harvest winners
Myanmar State Counsellor and democracy icon Aung San Su Kyi will view the Philippines’ best indigenous weavers and export winners at the Philippine Expo of Fibers and Harvest on April 28.
Su Kyii will represent her country in the Asean Summit in Manila.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the Philippine indigenous weavers will showcase Piña, Hablon, Ifugao, Mandaya and Tinalak weaving at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), where leaders of the Asean countries will meet for the 30th ASEAN Summit.
Su Kyi was supposed to go to Aklan to take a look at the Spanish Red Pineapple which is the source of the strong piña fiber, but she did not have the time.
Piñol said the DA will also showcase Guimaras mangoes, pili nuts from Bicol, adlai from Bukidnon, pomelo from North Cotabato, pineapples from Davao and heirloom rice from the Cordilleras.
