Sweden wants Philippine mangoes
Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries said Sweden would want to taste Philippine mangoes.
Fries conveyed the message to Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol during a courtesy call.
“It is an exciting prospect to transport our mangoes, particularly those grown in Guimaras, to Sweden,” Piñol said.
Piñol said the Philippines wants to engage Sweden on agricultural machinery, sophisticated water drilling equipment and modern communication equipment for farmers.
He also expressed the country’s interest in joining trade fairs to showcase Philippine organic agricultural products, liqueur and chocolate.
Fries said Sweden sees a lot of potential in the Philippines, particularly in trade and investment, research and development, and tourism.
He also invited Piñol to attend the United Nations Ocean Conference in New York, on June 5-9 to share the Philippines’ experience on rehabilitating its fishing grounds.
