The battle of the Cheddar Jalapeño junkies

What do you do when you drive someone for a visa appearance and it takes longer than you ever expected? We got there at 7:30am and I thought we’d be done by 10am. I have never been more wrong.

First, we walked around the area. Pasong Tamo extension is still relatively peaceful. At 7:30am, it was actually quite peaceful. There was nothing open. Well, there was a breakfast buffet that cost P299 across the street. I already had breakfast at home so it had no appeal. We walked towards Ecoplaza and checked out the food court that housed all the restaurants under the Max’s Group from Krispy Kreme and Jamba Juice to Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin’ Steak. The food court was too small for all the smells the kitchen was emitting. We stepped out right away. It was almost 9am so we decided to head back. Along the sidewalk was a taho vendor. I got one.

We went back to Allegro Center. There was nothing interesting to eat. It was a warm day so we went inside New Bistro Deli and had iced tea for the airconditioning. That too had too much smell in such a small space. We didn’t last.

Across the street was a MiniStop and a Mercury Drug. The MiniStop was too run down so we went to Mercury instead. On one of the shelves was Cheddar Jalapeño corn snacks from Cheetos and Leslie’s Cheezy, They were standing side by side. If you draw squares around them, you can almost play spot the difference.

The 70-gram bag of Cheezy cost a little over P19. The 66-gram bag of Cheetos cost a little over P23.

The Cheezy and the Cheetos looked almost the same except that the Cheetos sticks were a bit fluffier and longer.

In terms of taste, it really depends on your preference. If you like Jalapeños more, go for Cheezy. If you like cheddar more, go for Cheetos. After that initial taste test, we decided to put them all in just one bag and shook it so that they will all taste the same. Ah, the perks of being an adult. You get to buy two of almost the same junkie and you get to play with them. To show the world we were adults, we had them with Coke light. And there we were, happily munching away when my mom came and said it was done and it was time to go home.
