This is what made Mama Sita decide to pursue Pinoy food business
Almost five decades ago, the matriarch of Aristocrat Restaurant and the famous Mama Sita products had decided to pursue her fondling for Filipino food.
Clarita Reyes-Lapus said her mother, Teresita Reyes, more commonly known as Mama Sita, honed her love for Filipino food after a visit in the US.
“It was in 1970s when we went to the United States and my mom saw our kababayan eating just junk food. This made her decide to bring Filipino food to them”, Lapus told Business Mirror in a report.
Mama Sita then founded a small food company selling ready-made food mixes following a comment from a brother-in-law on how time consuming cooking sinigang sa sampaloc can be. It was then when Marigold Manufacturing Corp. (MMC) was born in the 1980s which offerssinigang and kare-kare mixes as one of their first products.
