Agri chief pledged to hold FMR project for Tarlac farmers
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol has pledged to deliver a Farm to Market Road (FMR) project in Tarlac, which was personally requested to him by several farmers.
Yesterday, Piñol was visited by Tarlac farmers – Eric Limun, Orlando Cano, Edwin dela Cruz and Aris Victoria – who came all the way from Bamban, Tarlac to the office of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to ask for the 1-kilometer road that has been promised to them in 2010.
These farmers said, as cited by Piñol, that the road project had already been surveyed several times but it was never built.
“I felt a lump in my throat. It is in moments like this when I realize how the government in the past made promises which were never fulfilled,” Piñol said.
“Immediately, I called the FMR development project staff and asked them to accompany the farmers to their Congressman, Noel Villanueva, so that the road project could be included in the priorities of the district next year,” he added.
According to Piñol, the road project, which the farmers have been waiting for seven years, was now approved and funded.
