Ban on shipment of products in the 7-km avian flu control zone in Pampanga lifted
Poultry and poultry products within the 7-kilometer (km) Avian Influenza control zone in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija can now be shipped around the country after the Department of Agriculture (DA) lifted the ban on the movement of these products.
” I already signed the Memorandum Circular and effectively we are lifting the quarantine restrictions from the 7-kilometer radius. The 21 days waiting period is already done,” Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said.
“The only restriction is in the ground zero or those located in the 1 kilometer radius because we have to wait for the 90-day waiting period to be finished,” he added.
The DA earlier imposed a temporary ban on the movement of live domestic and wild birds and their products, including poultry meat, day-old chick, eggs, semen and manure from Luzon to the Visayas and Mindanao to prevent the further spread of bird flu.
Signed by Dr. Enrico P. Garzon Jr., DA Assistant Secretary for Livestock and Director of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), the temporary ban on the shipment of chicken and other fowls from Luzon to Visayas and Mindanao is contained in Memorandum Circular No. 09, Series of 2017.
