Burglars steal P3M in cash from meat processing plant
Five burglars have stolen cash amounting to almost P3 million from a meat processing plant in Sitio Maisac, Barangay Duquit, Pampanga.
Former Magalang mayor Romulo Pecson, owner of Roel’s Food Corporation, said that the suspects entered the premises of the firm’s warehouse by destroying a portion of its roof.
Pecson said that CCTV footage revealed that the suspects, who were wearing bonnets to cover their face, opened the vault using a crow bar.
“They used a ladder to get over our fence and ropes to get down from the roof where they entered. They started opening the drawers where a small amount of cash is placed,” Pecson said.
The vault contained P2.9 million accumulated from three days of sales from the meat processing plant.
Superintendent Ruel Cagape, city police officer in charge , said they are still investigating the incident.
Cagape said they are looking into the possibility that some employees are involved in the robbery.
“We also requested former mayor Pecson to get the biometrics of his employees so we can compare them to the latent prints the Soco lifted from the vault and the roof,” Cagape said.
