Chef Gene Gonzalez gives friend a true taste of Thailand

Chef Gene Gonzalez, chef and owner of famed Café Ysabel, gives his colleagues at the Fencing Confederation of Asia a little taste of Thailand.

During the conference, Gonzalez, a former fencer, was asked by his former teammate if he could round up some dishes locals ate in Bangkok. So the seasoned chef went to work gathering a plethora of dishes from hawker stalls to make his friend’s visit a memorable one.

Gonzalez made sure of his promise by bringing in Sontam papaya salad with salted crab; chicken rice; pork skin and crispy rice ball salad; sticky rice; and tom yam soup.
