DA delivers livelihood assistance to Negros Occidental
The Department of Agriculture (DA) awarded livelihood assistance packages to farmers and fishers of Bago City, Negros Occidental during Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol’s visit in the province.
The awarding ceremony was held during the Tapatan forum yesterday.
According to DA, the awarding of livelihood is in line with the commitment of President Rodrigo Duterte to make food available and accessible to all Filipinos.
DA particularly gave away fiber fishing boats and fish cart units to fishers’ organizations, including the differently-abled, to enable them to earn decent incomes and maintain a sustainable livelihood.
Earlier this month, Piñol alsomet with farmers in Western Visayas to turnover assistance consisting of farm machineries and equipment worth P34 million.
“It was proven once again that basic programs of government which assures farmers of access to technology, financing and marketing are enough to make them (farmers and fishermen) shed tears of joy and let out bursts of laughter,” Piñol said.
