Mario Batali ditches his signature Crocs and hints at his new show
Celebrity Chef Mario Batali has been known as the “orange crocs guy” for several years now. The Italian chef has donned on the neon clogs for most of the brands existence, and has become a well-worn part of his bright and bubbly image.
However, in his recent interview, he said that he would be ditching the plastic shoes for a more “sophisticated” style in the Yeezys, the Adidas shoe line created by Kanye West.
“I’m away from Crocs now. I’m onto the Yeezys, just this week. And I will wear them everywhere. One pair of shoes is what I travel with,” he said, but Mario also says that he’s “ended the Crocs relationship” and is “moving on.”
Batali mentioned that he had just finished shooting the pilot of a new show with Netflix entitled, In the Pinks with Mario Batali, produced by Zero Point Zero—the same people behind Mind of a Chef and Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown.
The concept of the new show is Batali sitting in a pink Adirondack chair somewhere, anywhere, with a guest joining him, and they talk. Batali said that the concept is conversing with someone whom he doesn’t share much similarities with and discovering something new. He also mentioned that most of the show will be animated, often illustrating the stories that he and his guest talk about.
