NFA to comply to circular directing gov’t agencies to display Philippine heroes
National Food Authority (NFA) administrator Jason Laureano Y. Aquino recently instructed all NFA managers nationwide to replace photos of President Rodrigo Duterte and himself with those of national heroes, following the President’s pronouncement sometime in July that he does not want his photo or those of other incumbent officials displayed in government offices.
In a joint meeting of the NFA Central Office, regional and provincial managers on August 22, Aquino instructed all NFA officials to immediately take down the President’s and his photos, which are displayed in the NFA executives’ offices as a matter of tradition.
These photos were replaced those with photos of the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal; the Father of the Philippine Revolution, Andres Bonifacio; and the Brains of the Revolution, Apolinario Mabini. Memo Circular 25 formalizing the presidential directive was signed on September 15.
“I agree with the President that we should continue to promote and popularize our nation’s history and cultural heritage especially among employees of state agencies to make ourselves more dedicated to the service and more accountable to our countrymen,” Aquino said.
“The great challenge in being part of the NFA is protecting and preserving our staple food and making it a symbol of our country’s quest for economic, political and social stability,” he added.
