NIA fulfills free ISF, Back Accounts payment up for Senate and Congress ruling
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) stressed that the agency abides by President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to offer free irrigation to small-scale farmers nationwide
“Totoo po na hindi na po nangongolekta ng bayad patubig ang NIA sa buong bansa bilang pagtugon sa kautusan ng ating Pangulo”, said Pilipina Bermudez, NIA spokesperson, in a Tuesday statement.
The agency reminded, however, that unpaid irrigation service fees in the past are still subject for collection as lawmakers stopped short of providing a resolution on the issue
“Hinihintay pa po natin na mailabas ng ating kongreso at senado ang kanilang desisyon sa pagkolekta ng mga back accounts sa ating magsasaka”, she added.
The agency has been confronted with difficulties in collecting the said fees since last year following government officials’ announcements of implementing free irrigation services.
