5th Tilapia Congress 2017 set this week

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) is set to hold the 5th Tilapia Congress 2017 on Thursday at Laus Group Event Centre in San Fernando, Pampanga.

The 5th National Tilapia Congress gathers the stakeholders of Philippine tilapia industry to talk about the enhancement of the production, post-harvest and marketing of Philippine Tilapia for sustainable, profitable and globally competitive industry.

This year’s theme “Levelling up the Philippine Tilapia Value Chain to Global Competitiveness” aims to update the sector on current trends featuring technical reports on recent aquafarming technologies.

Best practices to improve and prepare the tilapia value chain for the global market will also be discussed during the congress.

Key personalities that are expected to attend the opening include Senator Cynthia Villar, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Piñol, BFAR National Director Commodore Eduardo B. Gongona PCG (Ret.), Governor Lilia G. Pineda of Pampanga Province, Hon. Carmelo II “Jon” B. Lazatin, Pampanga 1st District Representative, Hon. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Pampanga 2nd District Representative, Hon. Aurelio Jr. “Dong” D. Gonzales, Pampanga 3rd District Representative, Hon. Juan Pablo Bondoc, Pampanga 4thDistrict Representative, Mayor Edwin D. Santiago of San Fernando City, Pampanga.
