Bettinna salutes mom volunteers of Kusina ng Kalinga

Television host, baker and supermom Bettinna Carlos recently spent a day with the volunteers of Kusina ng Kalinga under the Gawad Kalinga and Republic Cement to feed 750 participating kids of Taysan Elementary School. She expressed her admiration for the dedication of the entire team in ensuring that the kids are well fed everyday.

Bettinna shared that the volunteers start their day as early as 3 am to prepare 4-6 cauldrons of food for 750 kids in the school everyday. She said that she was blown away by the dedication and ingenuity of the mom volunteers who make sure that they chop the veggies into itty bitty pieces to sneak them into the meal and leave the kids no opportunity to pick on them.

Kawa kawa, araw-araw. 4-6 kawas to feed 750 kids everyday! The life of a Mom-Cook volunteer. Volunteer Moms from the 4 participating schools of Taysan take turns and wake up at 3am to receive check and weigh the ingredients delivered. They prep, cook, weigh and pack and distribute AND wash all containers after! With this recipe they chopped kamote and patatas into very small cubes to sneak in more veggies into the dish. They make it so tiny that kids wont have a chance to pick their food. Great idea mommas! PS: ang init ng apoy sa balat. Kahit mahaba ang sandok ramdam ng braso ko ang init. Siguro kung balbon ako malamang nashave ang arms ko! PPS: What they go through everyday just to serve FREE nutritious meals to the kids.❤❤❤ Definition of LOVE and dedication. #RepublicCementPH #NourishingDreams #StrongerRepublic

Bettinna said that the day doesn’t end with the feeding because they have to wash all of the food containers after, only to prepare for the next day’s grind.

“The success of a campaign is only possible when people come together and help a little. A little help from everyone has a big impact in the outcome.❤ God bless this feeding program of Kusina ng Kalinga in their commitment to feed 750 kids daily for TWO YEARS!!!,” she congratulated the team.
