DAR assures farmers of full support
Top officials of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), which was led by OIC Secretary Rosalina Bistoyong, have assured that the agency is not closing its doors to farmers and that they will always get the government’s full support.
These officials have recently met with leaders of various peoples’ organizations (POs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) in a consultation-dialogue at the DAR central office.
Bistoyong assured the leaders of POs and NGOs of DARs commitment to support the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) by strengthening and expanding the support services of the agency.
Bistoyong also vowed to fast-track the legal concerns and other issues that PO and NGO leaders raised during the consultation-dialogue.
Heads of different units of the DAR were also instructed by Bistoyong to attend to the concerns of POs and NGOs specifically on the issues of land acquisition and distribution (LAD) and matters related to the implementation of the agrarian reform law.
“It is the mandate of the DAR to advance the interests and welfare of the farmers, especially the ARBs,” Bistoyong pointed out.
The consultation-dialogue dispelled the claims made by some group of farmers, saying that the leadership of DAR is refusing to face the farmers in a dialogue.
