Food Network unravels layers of sweetness in Sugar Factory’s Rainbow Doughnuts
You love their doughnuts but do you know what goes inside your favorite Sugar Factory rainbow donut?
Food Network recently featured the sweet shop and gave a sneak peek into what goes inside the colorful donut flavor.
The crew starts by preparing homemade brioche-style dough which will be divided into portions. Each portion gets their own special color from the rainbow. They will then be mixed on a mixer. Each layer is flattened and stacked one over each other afterwards and then folded back together.
The dough is then proofed for 24 hours, flattened and sliced into squares. But if you think that the rainbow colored confection is already perfect for the last step, Sugar Factory adds another layer of surprise within each treat, in this case confetti cookie dough for that extra delicious bite.
But wait there’s more, inside the dough is another layer of goodness – Italian rainbow cake. Only then are the donuts formed and proofed again to make sure that the colors stay intact. The final step, a dip into the deep fryer and dipped into cotton candy glaze, topped with sprinkles and edible disco dust and cotton candy. Get ready for that sugar coma when it reaches your plate. You have been warned.
