PH chosen to exhibit in France’s ‘Salon du Chocolat’
November will be a busy month for the local chocolate industry.
For one, Philippines is among the top 50 countries across the world chosen to exhibit for the upcoming “Salon du Chocolat”, a prestigious trade fair for the international chocolate industry that happens once a year.
The country will be represented by Davao-based chocolate manufacturers Malagos Chocolate NutraRich Davao Fine Tablea and Rosario’s Delicacies and Auro Chocolate for the said exhibit, which is set to happen on October 28 to November 1 in Paris, France.
Aside from these companies, the Philippine delegation will also include cocoa producers from Batangas, Bohol and South Cotabato.
Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao Inc. (CIDAMI) Executive Director Val Turtur said in a report that the country’s participation in the event will give Filipino local cacao producers a chance to highlight their products in the international community.
According to him, the Philippines will be targeting potential buyers from Europe and United States.
To date, the Philippines has a total of 30,000 hectares cacao farms, of which about 26,000 hectares are in Davao region.
On November 9 to 12, local manufacturers will then fly to Seattle, Washington for the 4th Annual Chocolate Makers Conference.
