Slight increase seen on prices of fertilizers across the country
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) saw an uptick on the prices of fertilizers being sold across the country.
On a monthly basis, PSA said that the average prices of Urea and Ammosul at the country level are generally higher in October, while those for Complete and Ammophos generally went down during the month.
Relative to the same month in 2016, prices in the regions for Urea and Ammosul were also generally expensive. However, Complete and Ammophos exhibited lower prices.
Urea and ammonium-based fertilizers are used in industrial agriculture as well as home gardens. They contain large amounts of nitrogen that help plants grow to their maximum potential.
For Urea, the country’s average prices stand at P911.12 per sack in October, which was higher by 1.56 percent compared to last month. It was also 2.73 percent higher from last year’s level.
The highest prices was recorded in ARMM at P1,246.67 per sack, while the lowest price of P805.19 per sack was recorded in SOCCSKSARGEN. On an annual basis, PSA said that 10 regions posted higher prices this month.
