South Cotabato ships papayas to SoKor
Papayas from a town in South Cotabato are now available in the South Korean market.
In a statement, Department of Agriculture Region 12 (Soccsksargen) Executive Director Milagros Casis said that farmers from Tupi, South Cotabato shipped a ton of papayas to South Korea last October.
“We are glad that our farmers from Tupi inked a deal with Nurida Company based in South Korea,” Casis said.
Nurida Company is a distributor of fresh fruits in the Asian country.
Under to the supply agreement, Tupi farmers, are expected to ship two to three metric tons of solo papaya every week.
“This is a triumph for us since we are encouraging more farmers in Region 12 to think of the bigger market. This is one of the priorities now of the agriculture department,” the official added.
