Yikes! People who prefer bitter flavors are more inclined towards antisocial behavior
Does preference for bitter taste correlate to antisocial personality traits?
This is what researchers Christina Sagiogloua and Tobias Greitemeyer from the University of Innsbruck sought to discover with their study, and the results are in.
Based on the two studies, there is a relationship found between those who preferred bitter tastes like black coffee to malevolent personality traits, “with the most robust relation to everyday 40 sadism and psychopathy.”
This was derived from the results of interviews about their taste preferences as well as the outcome of their personality questionnaires assessing Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism, everyday sadism, trait aggression, and the Big Five factors of personality.
A report by Readers Digest, however suggests that those who prefer sweeter flavors are more inclined to be more agreeable and open to showing traits like sympathy, cooperation and kindness.
However, this does not mean that a person’s food preference should be the sole basis for judging his personality. Its interesting to know, though. (ANGEL ONG)
