BFAR provides boats and fingerlings to fishers in Surigao del Norte
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has turned over 150 fiberglass fishing boats and 130,000 fingerlings to fisherfolks in Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
The seeding of 60,000 bangus and 70,000 carp fingerlings in the lake is part of the BFAR’s Project BASIL or Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa ehich aims to hike fish population in the inland bodies of water of the country, including rivers and creeks.
In a Facebook post, Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol said the agency is also committed to provide loan funds under the Production Loan Easy Access of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) for farmers and fisher folks.
Under this loan programs, the towns of Mainit, Jabonga and Kitcharao, all in Surigao del Norte will be given P5 million each available credit for loans.
