NIA approves set up of two irrigation systems

The National Irrigation Administration has given the green light for the construction of two irrigation systems in Luzon and Visayas area.

One of these is the construction of Bulo Earthfill dam and its structures pegged at P632 million which is under the Small Reservoir Irrigation Project located in San Miguel, Bulacan.

The said irrigation project will cover 570 hectares of agricultural lands in Brgy Malibay, San Miguel and Brgy. Kalawakan, Doña Remedios.

Meanwhile, also approved was the construction of two diversion dams of Aklan River Irrigation System (ARIS) located in Panay Island, Aklan, a project expected to generate an additional 594 hectares of new areas to the existing service area of 3,916 hectares being irrigated by the Aklan RIS.

The ARIS is a P370 million irrigation project is set to benefit seven municipalities including of Banga, Kalibo, New Washington, Malinao, Lezo, Makato, and Numancia all in the province of Aklan.
