Piñol: Typhoons to slow down to H1 agri growth to 4%
Recent typhoons may pull down the agriculture sector’s performance to a slower growth in the first semester this year.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol said growth in the agriculture sector will be retarded to just 4 percent, at least for the first half of 2018 due to the devastation of typhoons last quarter brought.
The projected growth will be lower than last year’s first semester during which the January to March period saw a 5.28% surge while the second quarter grew by 6.2%
“The reality of agriculture is you have to understand hindi lahat ng panahon maganda,” the official told reporters on Tuesday.
