Canadian tourist shocked to get P120k bill at Roxas Blvd bar: What a scam!
A foreign tourist brought to social media his encounter at a Philippine restaurant where he was threatened to go to jail if he refused to pay P120,000 for his meal.
“Welcome to Manila, Philippines. Where you can ask for a drink and food and end up with a bill for $3,000 Canadian. As soon as they notice that you are a tourist the scamming game starts,” read the Facebook post of Canadian Kengo M.’s who lamented that he was already scammed right at the local airport where a cab driver charged him P2,000 for a 15-minute ride.
“At the end, this guy took my passport. He even said I should call someone to send me money on Western Union!” added the post which came with a video of the incident he secretly took.
In the video, the alleged scammer who appears to be the restaurant manager kept insisting that he pay the 3,000 CAD bill which is roughly about P120,000 or be arrested by the police. The tourist was forced to pay $1,000 Canadian, instead.
The foreigner did not directly identify the restaurant. But based on one of his comments in which he posted a screenshot of a travel review that called a certain restaurant as ‘fraud,’ Kengo M. may be referring to Club Apeiro Entertainment and KTV bar at Roxas Blvd., Pasay City, Manila.
