KFC closes several Britain stores and here’s why
KFC was forced to shutdown most of its 900 outlets in the United Kingdom and Ireland due to shortage of chicken as a result of “teething problems” with its new delivery partner DHL.
In a statement, KFC apologized to its customers for the inconvenience, adding that it is now working with DHL to sort the logistics issues.
To recall, KFC dropped its contract with Bidvest Logistics due to operational issues over the past few weeks. It then tapped the services of DHL, which promised to set a new benchmark in delivering sustainable and fresh products to KFC stores in the U.K.
As of Monday, some 300 stores went back online but continued to operate on a limited menu. KFC did not mention when the other stores will be back to operations.
