LeBron James’ pizza chain goes global
Cleveland-based pizza chain Blaze Pizza is expanding its operations outside North America after just five years. And of course, banking on the name of one of its owners, basketball superstar LeBron James.
In the company’s annual earnings report, Blaze Pizza CEO Jim Mizes said that the company aims to have 340 restaurants in five countries and 41 states by yearend. This, according to the executive, was a result of careful planning to build the necessary infrastructure to support the company’s rapid growth.
Top franchise destinations include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Egypt, and Morocco.
Launched in 2012, Mizes said that they are targeting to become a billion-dollar business by the time Blaze Pizza hit its tenth anniversary.
Forbes has listed the company as the fastest-growing restaurant chain in the history. Last year, Blaze reported a revenue of $279 million, a 50 percent increase compared to the previous year.
LeBron James, who owns 10 percent of Blaze, has his own franchize rights for stores in Chicago and Miami.
