PRDP funds P400M to Mindanao farmers
Department of Agriculture (DA)-led Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) has earmarked some P398.6 million to boost productivity of 15 agricultural commodities in Mindanao.
According to PRDP-Mindanao, the implementation will cover 15 commodities – including abaca, banana, milk fish, cacao, cassava, coconut, oil palm, coffee, dairy, goat, mango, organic rice, rubber, seaweed and swine – which will be facilitated through 84 enterprise projects under the Investment for Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Productivity (I-REAP).
At present, some 77 projects amounting to P363.2 million have already been approved by the DA, while the remaining are still under review.
PRDP is a World Bank-funded flagship program of the Department of Agriculture. While it is a nationwide program, the current administration has been pouring fundings to Mindanao.
