Zooey Deschanel calls out harmful chemicals found in American processed food
New Girl star Zooey Deschanel is speaking up about processed food in America and is calling on her fans to take a closer look at the chemical content of their food before they make a purchase in the supermarket.
The quirky star pointed out that there are many chemicals in American food that are banned in Europe. According to Deschanel, the government basically gives the big corporations free hand about the content of the food they produce and the only reason they don’t go overboard is the honor system.
Deschanel cited in particular, ingredients like sodium nitrate or “science salt” which is found in hamburgers and sausages. The actress said that while the chemical may seem safe on the surface, research shows that the ingredient actually carries cancer causing elements.
The New Girl star also pointed out that some of the ingredients found in sandwich spreads can also be found in the production of yoga mats while there are also ingredients in pop tarts that are also being used in making anti freeze or coolants for cars.
What is more alarming, according to Zoe is that some of the harmful ingredients are not even being included in the labels and there has been no penalty against offenders.
“Guinea pigs are awesome but I don’t want myself and my family to be one,” Zooey said. She encouraged her followers to share the video to hold the corporations accountable for the food they produce. (ANGEL ONG)
