Agriculture Department opens National Women’s Month exhibit
As the world’s total farm labor force is 40 percent women, the Department of Agriculture (DA) is paying tribute to women through its own National Women’s Month exhibit.
Agriculture Undersecretary and Chairperson of the Department of Agriculture Gender and Development Focal Point System Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has welcomed today the Outstanding Rural Women during the opening of exhibit of the National Women’s Month at the DA office in Quezon City.
In the agriculture sector, women make up more than 40 percent of the total farm labor force around the world, making them responsible for global food security.
Puyat, alongside Director Jocelyn Alma Badiola of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council who is also the Vice-Chairperson of the GAD Focal Point System, opened the week-long festivities with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”.
The annual celebration of Women’s Month aims to give due recognition to the contribution of the female population to the society.
