Chef Gene takes a wine tour in Thailand

As a flavor connoisseur, Chef Gene Gonzalez enjoys sampling different types of food and drink and that’s why his recent trip to Thailand for a wine tour at GranMonte Vineyards became a memorable one for him and the students of the Center for Asian Culinary Studies.

For one, the tour was personally given by the vineyard’s owner KhunVisoothLohitnavy where he showed guests the aging room and the cellar where they keep the wines.


They also took a tour through the vineyards and saw for themselves the high quality of grapes that are being processed to become fine wines.

His favorite among all the GranMonte’s offerings was the Verdelho which Chef Gene described as world class.

The class also visited the neighboring Village Farm and winery where Chef Gene fell in love with their shiraz grapes

which became the Chateau des Brummes La Prestige and provided a perfect pairing to his meal of grilled pork and green peppercorns. (ANGEL ONG)
