DA holds week-long marketing campaign
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the Department of Agriculture (DA) is currently holding a week-long marketing campaign which aims to connect farmers directly to customers nationwide.
Piñol said “it’s a full week – and weekend – ahead for the Department of Agriculture’s marketing and agribusiness units nationwide as they hold simultaneous direct market linkage activities” until March 20 to serve more local food producers and consumers.
These events were held and is on-going in several locations, including Cebu, Quezon City, Bonifacio Globa City, Iloilo City, and Davao City.
TienDA Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Outlet at the Agribusiness Development Center in Quezon City and DA Regional Field Office VI in Iloilo City, held concurrently with Bigas ng Masa, will make available basic food items such as rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, and fish and meat products at prices lower than supermarkets.
It is regularly held around payday period so that more employees can purchase from the exhibitors.
Meanwhile, TienDA sa Ayala Malls is a continuing collaboration with Ayala Malls Inc. that links local farmers and fishers to the mall crowd through outlets set up in Ayala-owned shopping centers.
