DA starts selling affordable rice in Payatas
Five tons of freshly milled rice from Luzon farmers groups is now being be sold to residents of Barangay Payatas in Quezon City as part of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) advocacy to directly link farmers with consumers.
Agriculture Undersecretary for Agribusiness and Marketing Bernadette Romulo Puyat said the Bigas ng Masa Rolling TienDA will sell rice in 1-kilo and 5-kilo packs for only P38 per kilo.
The Rolling TienDA will also be selling 911 canned goods, salted eggs and vegetables from the Cordillera Region.
This will be the first rolling store which will be deployed by the DA with the participation of farmers cooperatives and the support of the Quezon City Government.
The DA has a reserve supply of 2.5 metric tons (MT) in case the demand would be great.
The TienDA has been opened since 8 this morning.
