Miners support Bataraza to be ginger capital
Palawan-based miners Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation has recently helped farmers in Bataraza in their harvest of hawaiian ginger.
To be exact, farmers in Bataraza underwent intensive training that is part of the Social Development Management Program of the two mining firms.
The municipality of Bataraza is now being hoped to become the “Ginger Capital” of Palawan.
Seven months after the ginger was planted, two cooperatives harvested a total of 2,000 kilos. Hawaiian ginger planting of other associations are expected to be harvested soon.
The actual areas that were planted with the crop totalled 20.16 hectares and expected to yield 500,000 to 600,000 kilos.
