NIA bags Good Practice Awards from NEDA
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) recently bagged the Good Practice Awards (GPA) from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) for the agency’s projects and initiatives.
NEDA particularly recognized NIA’s strategies that helped resolve recurrent issues in project implementation, specifically on securing Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC), and meet the demands of indigenous people which were not NIA’s mandate.
The entry entitled “addressing the issues in securing a FPIC for the Project’s Implementation through Convergence with other National Government Agencies to address development needs of the affected families; and Preparation of a Holistic Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plan to address compensation, relocation, and restoration of affected livelihood through the Jalaur River Multipurpose River Project, Stage II” was unanimously agreed and favorably considered by the Award’s Screening Committee.
“The awards serve as a motivation for us to work harder and secure the efficiency in project implementation. This is a symbol of the Agency’s dedication to contribute to the general welfare of Filipinos, specially, to our farmer-stakeholders”, said NIA Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector C’zar M. Sulaik
Now, NIA is ascertaining its vital contribution to the socio-economic and agricultural growth of the country through irrigation development and smooth project implementation.
